Davor Bruketa and Damir Ciglar are among the international experts that will be evaluating last year’s creative production, announced Cannes Lions. Croatia is the only country from our region that will have its representatives in the jury of the biggest global competition of creativity and it is the first time there are two Croatian members at the same time, who are the only regional representatives that have passed the strict Cannes selection.
Croatian advertising industry is the biggest in the region and it is constantly improving. In the last couple of years, Croatian projects have stood out in the region with the number of awards and accomplishments at the world’s biggest festival of creativity in Cannes. Four Croatian agencies – Imago Ogilvy, Studio Sonda, EssenceMediacom and Bruketa&Žinić&Grey – have won the prestigious Cannes Lions so far.
The prosperity of the whole industry is reflected in the number of international projects and accomplishments, as well as being a part of the jury at international competitions. With the inclusion of Croatian representative in the Cannes Lions jury, Croatian advertising industry is in its prime.
This was recently further proven to be true at the regional competition BalCannes, where Croatian agencies received the most awards. The Renaissance of the industry was also shown at the DK Festival, which was once a gathering place for local experts, while now it has evolved into a leading regional event that attracts the audience with its high-quality content that is provided by some of the best international experts.
At the prestigious Cannes Lions, which will be held on 19-23 June 2023, for the first time ever, there will be two Croatian representatives in the jury. Davor Bruketa (Bruketa&Žinić&Grey) will join the jury for the Industry Craft Lions category, while Damir Ciglar (Imago Ogilvy) will be a member of the Film Craft Lions jury. After a strict selection, these two esteemed creatives will join the jury that consists of 197 leading experts from 58 markets, and they will choose projects that will be shortlisted. This is an improvement from the last year, when Croatia had one representative, an esteemed expert Jelena Fiškuš from Studio Sonda.

“The number of the jury members from one country clearly reflects its position on the global map. This is the result of years of hard work in our industry,” said Davor Bruketa.
“This is not just a personal accomplishment for Davor and I, but also an international recognition for our industry, as well as for the high-quality work that HURA continuously strives for,” added Damir Ciglar.

Simon Cook (CEO, LIONS), stated: “The first round of the competition, that establishes the shortlist of the Cannes Lions, is crucial. We have gathered a superb selection of extraordinary talent and experts from the whole world, and they put a lot of commitment and expertise in the important task that is put in front of them. I would like to thank them for their hard work in the selection of projects that will be singled out and awarded at this year’s festival.”
