At the world’s most prestigious creativity festival, Bruketa&Žinić&Grey snagged a bronze for their “Priča koja vrijedi svakog slova” project while Studio Tumpić/Prenc also scored bronze with “Vrijeme je za tvoje vrijeme.” Huge.
Somebody said history in the making? Croatian creatives now boast a total of six Cannes Lions — the coveted trophies awarded at the biggest global creativity festival, Cannes Lions. This esteemed event, being held from June 17 to 21 this year, handed Bruketa&Žinić&Grey a bronze lion in the Print & Publishing category for Priča koja vrijedi svakog slova, created with the help of Komunikacijski laboratorij. Meanwhile, Studio Tumpić/Prenc won the bronze award in the Design category for Vrijeme je za tvoje vrijeme. After fierce competition among the world’s top projects, these national communication wizards are bringing home two Cannes awards to Croatia this year.

This is truly the pinnacle of our careers. We’re stoked to have further cemented Croatia on the map as a destination for this prestigious award. The Vrijeme je za tvoje vrijeme project urges consumers to slow down and align their pace with the time it takes to produce wine like Teran Barrique, explained Anselmo Tumpić, creative director of Studio Tumpić/Prenc. Before its success at Cannes, this project had already racked up numerous trophies at IdejaX, biggest Croatian creativity competition, the regional BalCannes competition, and other esteemed international industry awards.

For Bruketa&Žinić&Grey, this isn’t their first rodeo — this marks their second Cannes Lion: This campaign isn’t just about pasta or singing traditional songs. It’s about belonging and love: love for your family, friends, and that small corner of the world you call your own, emphasized Nikola Žinić, head of the award-winning campaign from Bruketa&Žinić&Grey. He added, Behind this simple yet brilliant campaign is a massive team. Holding a small box with the exact number of letters of a traditional song, you can feel the care we’ve put into it, embodying the fragility of heritage that can easily slip away if we don’t cherish it.

Let’s recap: four Croatian agencies — Imago Ogilvy, Studio Sonda, EssenceMediacom, and Bruketa&Žinić&Grey — have previously received Cannes Lions, the most prestigious award in the global creative industry. This marks the third consecutive year that Cannes Lions has recognized the prowess of Croatian creatives by inviting them to its expert jury. Jelena Fiškuš was the first representative in 2022, followed by Davor Bruketa and Damir Ciglar last year, who also judged the Cannes Young Lions. This year, Sean Poropat and Ivan Golubić represented Croatian creativity in the jury, standing as the sole representatives from the entire region.
Now it’s official. Croatia’s advertising industry is the largest in the region, with a market that’s growing stronger and continuously elevating its quality. In recent years, Croatian communication projects have stood out in the region, raking in awards and accolades not just at Cannes Lions but also at numerous international industry awards. The progress of Croatia’s entire communications industry is evident in the increasing number of international collaborations, recognitions, and memberships in global competition juries. This industry renaissance is mirrored in the evolution of your favorite DK festival, which you transformed from a gathering of local experts into one of the leading regional events.
