This year, we have put together an exquisite program and we have tried really really hard NOT to make it easy for you to choose your favorites among our speakers – including the superstar that is our latest guest: brand strategist, Brian Collins.
Business Week described him as a design world wonder — he is the first graphic designer invited to speak at the World Economic Forum in Davos and one of only five holders of the title American Master of Design, who, by connecting creativity and business, creates unique brand experiences that strategically lead to their business goals. Brian Collins is coming to DK2024, a festival of creativity and communications in Rovinj 11—14 April!
The business philosophy of this globally renowned strategist, who is also the founder of the first design department at Ogilvy, one of the most well-known creative agencies in the world, seems simple at first glance: design is not just interesting typography and beautiful visuals — it’s about understanding the complete identity and brand experience. Design, vision, and the future of the brand have been the winning formula in his long career, and he eventually translated his knowledge into COLLINS, a studio that Forbes highlighted as one of the companies transforming the future of brand building, while Ad Age placed it on the not-so-humble list of 50 companies every creative would kill to work for.
Flattering titles mean nothing without concrete proof backing them up — but in Collins’ resume, among other achievements, stand Avon’s visual identity, Motorola’s global design system, and Spotify’s global rebranding, which Design Week, Wired, and Fast Company hailed as one of the most prominent rebrandings.
When one of the world’s largest creative agencies (which you left, btw) chooses you to do a rebranding just for them with tens of thousands of in-house designers and art directors, you surely have a lot of valuable things to say and show. Last year, I eagerly awaited Rory Sutherland’s Alchemy; this year, I’m looking forward to Brian Collins’s Alchemy (and Dan Ariely’s irrationality) — I expect a feast for the eyes and ears, stated Damir Ciglar, a member of the organizational committee of DK2024.
Having refined his creative senses and connecting them with brilliant strategies, Brian Collins lives in the future, experimenting with new ways to translate it into design, and then brings it back to the present. At COLLINS, he explains, they come up with transformative futures for their clients, and the driving force behind these transformations is the past itself. How can you predict through design and then build previously unexplored territories? That’s precisely what he will discuss with participants of DK Festival in his talk titled Design Alchemy — The Art of Transformation and the Inevitable Future(s).
